Yes, the VHT Flameproof coating is unlike any paint i've used before.
It is more of a coating, than a paint. It HAS to be cured, either on car, or in an oven, with heat, to cure it.
It is done in stages too. Only low heat (200*) first, then cooled, then brought to 400*, then cooled again, then brought to 600* then cooled and ...done!
On car is the same method, but car is idled a short period, cooled, then, idled a longer time, then cooled, and then idled an even longer time.
3 heating stages to both methods.
I am going to do it oven style.

I have a whole house fan, so I can air it out ...if need be. :eeeeeek:

Here is a side by side comparison of the stock clutch plate and the Bahnhof clutch plate that came with the Bahnhof clutch kit I bought.

The Bahnhof clutch plate is on the right

Measured height of disc plate material to rivets is .045 for the Bahnhoff
and .032 for the stock plate, which is about 4 yrs old.

Ha Ha! Yup. One can VHT Flameproof 2000* Flat Silver Ceramic Coating. One can VHT Clear Engine Enamel for the valve cover. Going to test it on a sample piece first, to see if it looks/works okay.

Here's what the silver went on:

You're not really going to use a timing light are you? Just rock the dizzy for max advance, until the weber won't idle down. Back the dizzy off a hair. Throw that plastic cover away.

I know...i know. It ain't my train to rob

    Lookin' good Dr Dan!

    It's true. I am anal.

Took the Memorial weekend off and went and played. Finally got my header paint. Tried to order from VHT direct, and for some reason it did not go thru Placed the order, paid for it, but never got a confirmation # or any thing, and money was not taken from my account, either. I waited like a week and it never showed up.
So I ordered it on ebay, and it arrived today. One can shipped ups, and the other can shipped fed-x, both came about 10 minutes apart. If fed-x had been 10 minutes sooner, they both would have arrived at the same time.
I could see them both walking up my sidewalk at the same time. :p

    Moving on.

Cam and crank seals installed, new water pump installed, and broken timing crank sprocket replaced. After I eat dinner, the timing belt will go on, too.

I cannot get this B6 crank timing pulley off. I have another, so I wasnt too worried about this, but what a pita.
I know this came off the B3 very easily, when I changed seals last year.
    This one aint a movin'

Haynes said use 2 pry bars. I did. (see pic)

Done painting stuff mostly, started assembling stuff on the engine.

Had a hard time getting the timing cam pulley off. Had to borrow an impact to break the bolt loose, then couldnt find my 14mm impact socket, so made a trip to buy one, and then found my 14mm as soon as I got back home.

Now the timing crank pulley dont wanna come off. Tried 2 pry bars, but felt as if I was about to break it, so I stopped.

I did manage to put the new water pump on.

Oh well, tommorow's another day. (to invent new 4 letter words) :p

Clutch looks good from my house!

Put the stock disc next to the Branof for a pose, then we'll know if it means bizness.
