Well I did finally get to what actually happened... So as I was dissembling I found metal pieces under the cam.... Well it was a roller that had broke in half. So what happened was one of the roller rockers roller broke and fell bellow the cam and when the cam lobe came around it caught the cam and stopped it from spinning and that's what broke the cam sprocket.

Yeah it sucks... But I did learn that the 90-93 and I guess the aspire cam sprockets are weak... My 88 sprocket is way better built, social your building a dickmeyer motor with a loppy cam then you may want to get a 88-89 cam sprocket... Or Matt said maybe the b6t or bp

Ooooh yeah, could be an issue. Is your cam gear the stock steel one, or do you have a lighter aftermarket aluminum one?

With my MPG cam, it is even more non-interference! Lower cam lobes.

Don't know why it broke... And yes it's non interference when stock but I have a .513 lift on my cam so my valves stick down more and my head is decked 23 thousandths so it may not be non interference any more

How did you break a cam gear?
Valves shoudn't be affected because non-interference.
