Looks like a perfect excuse to come down to AZ for a rust free shell. (yeah, I know it'll probably pop out, but I figured I'd throw that out there). By the way, I'm in Maine right now, driving my moms 3 around, so I'm in the same cold sloppy situation as the rest of you northerners. lol. At least mom drives a 6 speed manual and doesn't mind me driving it with the handbrake.

Lmao Charlie.... The body on this one is actually pretty clean considering it's an original Canadian car, somebody has definately taken very good care of it over the years

But if this one completely rots out on me, I wouldn't complain if you found me a perfect AZ shell to work with

I'll start looking for a suitable replacement.

Monday I heard a bang noise, then lots of driving resistance, then it cleared up... I instantly thought something in the tranny blew but it still drove so I kept going.... But it made a loud bad bearing noise... But I kept driving it all week anyway lol

Today on the way to work, the tranny finally blew apart and left me sitting on the side of the road

Called my girlfriend to come get me and we towed it home, glad I had a chain with me lol

Got a GTX trans out and ready to go

          Wheel off

          Drained the fluid.... Looks nasty

          Axles out

I think it's a great time to install the brand new drivers axle I've had kickin around

          Then one crossmember off

That's all for tonight... More tomorrow

So last night we got dumped on like crazy with snow so I had to clear the driveway before I could start on the car... 90% of this snow fell overnight

So first I started up top un-hooking the mount, shift cables, electrical etc

Then I went underneath to unbolt the driveshaft.... I definitely found where the tranny blew lol

Check out the play on the output flange

            Then down goes the driveshaft

Then I unbolted the second crossmember

Hooked up the cherry picker to lower both the engine and trans.... Almost necessary to give clearance to pull the trans off the engine

Unbolted the trans and dropped it out... After a bit of fighting, pushing, prying and swearing

Then after some more swearing prying and perseverance I got the GTX trans bolted to engine and the upper mounts back on to get the cherry picker out of the way

Thats how far I got so far, I'm on a supper break and might do more yet tonight

Alternator changed.... The old one was weak and the light would dim at idle with the heater on... Would have been a royal pain if the axle was in lol

I love the extra space with the GTX trans, it's sooo much nicer accessing the starter without a diff lock motor in the way lol

                  Driveshaft back on

                  Axles in

Just needs tranny fluid, crossmembers, the rad, battery and whatever little stuff left to hook up and it'll be ready for start up hopefully tonight after supper once I get my feet warmed up and get some feeling back in them lol

The bolts weren't rusty, just dirty and covered in road salt, they just look worse then they really are lol

Yup and they're all coming back off again this weekend

Here's how my test drive went today

Drive down the road, get 10 mins from home, start slowing down and the rear tires locked up solid..... ANOTHER dead tranny

The transfer portion of the tranny seized up stopping the driveshaft from turning... I had to pull the driveshaft on the side of the damn road so I could tow the ********** thing home

                                I'm pissed
