  • For starters the exhoust strap has been upgraded to wire!! And second off I understand conserns and adding input and insight on how to do it acording to you and others in the past, but with lifting its been done one time before but never with a bp motor so knoladge on this is verrry little which you haven't givin any on the lift which other then critisism.... you guys have been great with tips on every thang else And I appreaciate that a lot so if you have any ideas that would be better/safer ide appreacieate it greatly

Only thang I've hurd that I could have done different but not necessary is that I should have placed the front blocks under the strut I agree but dissagre because the way I did it made my car 3" wider and for off road which is essential you have to agree with that
The other thang was the control arms, only negatives and no input on ideas but ill add side bracing on the extended part just for the extra strength
Any thang else I'm missing??? If not stay off the roads till I take it through my off road course at my farm

matching tires will be a fue weeks $700 for the ones I'm wanting, yes its a little rusty but is a nebraska car appraides $250 to get fixed

    • Hey what did you do to your Tierods and cv axles to make them work with the lift? I planned on going this exact same thing for my Festiva truck

      Comment

      • I extended them 1" on the tierods and 15/16" on the controle arm between the swaybar and the spendle but ide make the mettal more bulky then mine just in case cuz I haven't had time to abuse it to test if it will hold off road and on the blocks someone said to put the blocks on top of the struts I agree with and the cvs I have a stock lengh drivers side aspire cv and the passanger side I have a aspire cv extended 1.5" using a pressed sleve for a 37" total, couple people said not to do it but I talked to a custom axle place and the guy done it several times before with 100% success and after 300 miles it works great still it was a bit pricy at 260$ for the passanger side cv but not may shops will do the work for you

If you go to way bigger tires I'm at 26.5" tires will be going to try to get 31" after I cut my fenders the stock motor won't work verry well my bp with a stock tranny only had balls 1-3rd gear, 4th gear had only bit of passing power at 75mph, and 5th gear will only keep the speed on flat roads so just a heads up

        • Can you take some pictures of that hub an cv and control arm set up. I wana go up about 6 inches or more with mine so I wouldn'tt mind a couple ideas from your success

          • not as pretty as oem but makes it wayyyy easier to aline the weels with a wrench don't have a pic of the cv will get that here after a bit. and what hub?
This works only to a 7" but if I get another festy ill keep that one stock and just experiment and try to go higher with this one

            • I'm in love with your Festiva! So you just cut that tie rod in half. And added about 2 inches added the right angle iron on to get it relatively straight an patch it up. Then for that control arm you added how much roughly on the bal joint side? That was some pretty smart thinking. I personally would have thought to just cut an add on the center of the control arm. How thick/wide was the iron you used for your lift? This is redneck brilliance. Once I get the lift done I'm planning on getting a lawn tractor garden utility trailer. Making the festive first into a truck. Reinforce the festy floor then get a hydrolic piston of a sort and why're it to a pump pully and motor. To make it a dump box on it. Then will proceed to add a plow / winch to the front

              • Only way I know is the redneck way! I only added 1" to the tie rod using a left over bolt from the build and then reinforced it with the original control arm sence it had a nice grove in it and I got new ones lol, the control arm I added 15/16" and did it on the balljoint side cuz if you do it in the middle it makes putting the swaybar on inpossible

On the lift it self I used PTO shaft steel from a tractor PTO lol its 1"x1 1/4" and is way stronger then normal steel but for 1 foot was $35$! And then used 1/4"x2"x5" for the part that connects to the spendle with aspire front struts ill post pics of it asap but don't have one of all the wholes drilled yet haven't had time, the rear I used 1/4" 2"x2"x5"square pipe then added the 1/4"x2"x4" on the top of that with 2" over lap to wled on cut out the original rear lower strut mounts and welded in to place and has worked for 4000miles will find pics of this and post with the front ones , but all totle time to make and bolt on the lift only with breaking bolts.. was about 5 hours with me guessing lol the lift

Would get pics now but where I parked it in town the cops didn't like it sitting there for a week cuz I can't move it with a blown clutch they decided to move it idk where but they never put a abandoment sticker on it..... and my clutch will get in the 5th if I can find my car.......

And you should make my car in to a truck steva lol I seen pics of them and wanted to do one with a roll bar with kc lights and my 8 foot cb whips but I got you beet on the wench lol and a bull guard I made but it was a 80$ 4-wheeler 1ton wench lol perfict for a festy and it worked great but with a dump bead on your festy would be sick

                      • I can't get access to my strut right now for measurements jut gt 2 feet of snow and she's buried. What's the size of the sheet steel you welded to the side of the pto shaft. Deminsions I need height, width, distances between holes and how far are holes from the shaft

                        Comment

                        • I used a 2" wide,1/4" thick steel that was 4" long where I drilled the wholes idk haha I welded it up then tacked on to the strut and spendle ( upgrading to aspire ones when I find them) and just drilled with it attached to the car. But its a guess and check when you do drill cuz the wheels willbe extreamly towd in when on jack stands and will sit level after you set the car down, it also pushes the shocks closer to the shock tower mine rub a bit when not setting on the ground

                            • At work I can get a full set of 235/75r15. (30" tires) bf goodrench wrangler tires for $300 mounted and balanced but will need to trim the rear fender 1" on the sides cuz the arnt wide enough lol, but weighting for my pay check and will be rocking new tires! I told my boss that I wanted them and showed they could fit and he laughed and said them tires are on my truck lol, might end up having to get 1/2" wheel spacers for more clarace on the struts and to add another 1" to the wheel base for a total of 4" wider overall

                              • Been a while since I've added pics but here you go! When I get my new tranny next week I'll get a fue off road pics also but enjoy!

Lol well these tires and as big as I'm going and my standard jack isn't big enough.... Had to use blocks for it to lift the car up enough to put the tire on! Just need stiffer Springs so It sits a little higher

I also measured and I'm at 13" all around and when I get my 30 inch tires I will be at 15" rear and 14.5" in the front (that's the bottom of the frame rails) and sits almost just as high as the 88 Ford f150 in the pic
