I'm more inclined to going with a standalone and a dual-core radiator, to control heat at the higher RPM range.
If Matt's original dyno graph is correct ("horsepower climbing at fuel cutoff"), then the cam can be retarded to bring peak torque down lower. This will give a broader power curve and bring the peak HP number into reality. Food for thought.

Matt sez you can do more with a B6 than a B3. Not only more displacement, but a better head design too.

Point taken. Matthew has lots of torque already tho. I could take my adjustable gear down with me to FL when I go visit Greg. Then when we dyno it, I can try a little retarding. I'll check with Matt first tho, as he may have fooled with this already, or he might tell me not to waste my time.

We shouldn't get any more retarded around here than we already are

In seriousness, the torque is there already, it was decided by all the airflow mods done by Matt. The cam gear can help move it around to produce more useful power, power that's under the curve (and before 6,000rpm).

Also, I have the dyno graph and video to back it up. Not to mention at least 4 other forum members who were there during the run. So you can apply your optimism to your car but not mine only because I don't charge $200 for a reground cam?

Car looks great, and made awesome numbers Tom, congrats.

Is the car more rusty, than Larry? I see your making it comfy too, those are the best mods. Feel them all the time, not just when your wide open.

"Bone stock" means stock. When you modify that by saying "basically", you now mean it's not bone stock. So what have you done to it? If you hold back info, we can't have a meaningful conversation.

Also, I'll bet it's an apples-and-oranges situation with the dyno. Which one did you use? Then there's operator skill and how it's set up. I'll bet a Dynojet like the one at the facility near Greg (Beach Dyno) will give me better numbers. Plus those guys actually know what they are doing.

                        He meant "LS1 stock".

                          LOL

Larry is actually pretty rust-free, just very minor stuff. Not so much with Matthew. I have addressed the rust in various ways, depending on the location. Spare tire well rust was superficial and responded nicely to sanding and painting. Rear wheelwell rust was cancerous, so I used aluminum sheet, stainless fasteners, spray-can rubber sealer, and flat-black paint to solve those issues. Not what a body man would do, but very functional. The only place I have left to address is in front of the driver rear wheelwell. None of the rust issues are in the major structural category. But I do need to look at the lower rad support area. With greater-than-stock power, it's even more important to make sure this does not flex.

Very true. Just curious about rust for the long term, I know at some point you'll decide to keep one or the other, but I think you should keep both. I'm also curious of the mpg of the mighty b3. Should still get decent mileage.

No question I'm keeping Larry. So then the issue is, do I need two similarly-equipped fast Festys? (Since Larry will be upgraded.) I'm considering having you install an F tranny so I can get a better clutch, then have Matt do his thing with the B6 head, cam, intake and header. He is talking about well north of stock BP power with an NA B6. Believable, considering where Matthew is. Like Brad, I am a fan of the "small-block" Festys! Selling Matthew would finance Larry.

Also, I could pull the fun parts off Matthew and install 'em in Danny; then put a stock B3 head on Matthew and sell him as a nice DD, with Matt's header as a bonus (since Danny already has a new DAE B3 header).
