  • That's a possibility. It doesn't hurt to try, if you have one.

    • I don't lol. I have a bp01 which I believe is a b8 ecu.

      • Is this engine pulling hard all the way to redline?

        • Feels like it to me but my butt dyno isn't calibrated the greatest.

          • back in the day a guy named bondo swapped a b6 using bp electronics and he said it worked perfectly pulled hard to redline! take advantage over that dohc head.

            • Especially where this one has a properly tuned intake manifold. The capri b6d is tuned just like a Festiva (TQ curve) but this engine is a different animal. I've got a BP ecm I'm not using right now, if you want to try. I'll mail it to you Joe.

                someone needs to go on a dyno and compare

                b3 ecu/injectors/vaf
                b8 ecu/injectors/vaf
                bp ecu/injectors/vaf

                my money is on the BP stuff

                • Definitely can't use b8 or bp injectors. I tried the b8 ecu with the larger 6d injectors and it ran richer than the B3 ecu.
                  Nearest dyno is around 2 hours from me so kinda hard to just run over every time I change something.

                  • You should run the injector that matches the ECM, or maybe slightly larger, but not more than 2lb/hr. On this engine I'd say a BP ecu may work better. The Capri b6d doesn't pull hard to redline, it drops off at about 5800rpm like the b3 does. TQ peak is around 5500rpm. This engine may have different cam profiles and the intake/exhaust manifolds are much different than the Capri. It needs more fuel up top. The BP ecm fuel map is probably more suitable. Even better yet, would be the b5 dohc ecm (not a US engine either) as it was very similar to this engine.

                      ya i was going to say match the injector with the ecu have you tried the b8 ecu with the b8 computer?

                      BP might work best. I have bp stuff im going to try on mine if i decide go to n/a

                      btw does anyone know if the sohc 16 valve exhaust manifold will fit a b6d? having trouble locating an exhaust manifold might force me to go turbo;

                      • 16v will not fit the 6d. I've tried a 6d on 16v and it won't fit. If you have a 16v exhaust manifold I may be interested in buying it. I need intake and exhaust manifolds for my long block.

                            • Had the back end step out on me tonight. Carried too much speed into a corner panicked and touched the brakes mid corner. Straightened up almost immediately though. Really need to get signed up for some track days so I can learn the limits of this thing.

                              In other news. My spare injectors are back from getting cleaned.
