    • It's great to see that everything is coming together.
Like William said, order tires, not springs. A stiffer rate will give you less adjustment and be more apt to spin. Try some 185 60 13 Federal 595 tires, or better yet, Toyo R888.
That gtx turbo should provide a much more predictable and usable boost curve, while not sacrificing any power up top (though the car may feel slower). Did you get the appropriate oil restrictor? The ball bearing CHRA doesn't require the amount of oil flow and pressure that a plain bearing unit does.
      Keep up the great work.

      • New turbo is way smaller. I hope it still pumps out the power Imanagement addicted to... the manifold is cracked all the way around it! I can see light on either side...

Gonna have the manifold welded tomorrow. Gonna have the gtx on asap. Gonna have the Rio rack on asap as well. The core support has made the steering get heavier I think. Some how.

A hose clamp failed on me and ended my fun tonight.

        • The manifold is off! The crack was not a crack at all. its a split in the pipe all the way around it. Its 100% split. No wonder i had such bad LAG!!! anyway the turbo that was on it spools great still! i dont know what kinda turbo it is but i think its different then what the guy told me it was. It spins like a ball bearing turbo. It only has oil cooling tho. Ill look into that more in the next day or so. I am going to buy it back from the guy i sold it to just incase i ever want or need it again. Gonna seal it up and let it sit.

If the GTX can still make the same power i should have super fast spool! I can spin it by blowing over it. It spins super freely. I cant belive the mani was cracked so bad. Im gonna have to built a turbo support.

Any ideas on a turbo support? support the turbo or just the flange the turbo mounts to?

          • Slip joint the manifold? I would imagine the thermal expansion caused the split, along with the stress of the weight of the turbo and downpipe.

            • Support it from more than 1 point on the turbo and the engine block. The support should hold the turbo in place even with no manifold bolted up. This will ensure that the manifold is not stressed by the weight of the turbo. You can support it by the water cooling holes if you don't have water cooling hooked up.
In the past, I've made swirl pot/supports that bolt on to the oil outlet. This works really good. You can also support it with the downpipe flange. I'd avoid using the compressor bolts to secure it, as those will wallow out with vibration and heat and it'll ruin your compressor.

                • I have the manifold off and welded back up. I will have the new turbo mounted late tonight. I cant wait to see how this new turbo and sold manifold do. Im thinking the car is going to feel completely different. Going from a cheap ebay turbo with a broken manifold to a top shelf properly sized turbo with good manifold! My exhaust is going to bolt right back up! I will have a short intake pipe built and actually get a filter on it! I think i should paint the manifold white. I want to go all white with some slight orange here and there o this car. Or go burnt orange like i wanted to from the start. IDK on the paint yet but the manifold needs something.

I will have Overkill done this weekend! Its looking like Lucifer is going to take a bit of time still yet. Gonna have a mess trying to figure out the how to route the turbo and intake/ exhaust pipes.

                  • The GTX is on the car with the manifold all welded up nice and neat like. IDK if it was from the manifold being cracked or if this new turbo is just that good but it sounds like a damn jet at idle. I noticed a leaking oil fitting (Chinese junk) so i have ordered a new fitting. Im hoping the fitting is here in a couple days. It was only 100 miles from my house. Anyway at idle it has a very nice turbo sound. When the revs are coming down it has some very nice sounds as well.

It is best to run water in them, but you don't have to. I've run dozens of GT30 Garrett's without coolant because they were on air cooled engines. Just let the turbo cool off before shutting the engine off if you run it hard.

                              • Does a turbo timer just let the car run for a set amount of time before it shuts it off? Pull key out and leave it say 2 minutes later it turns off?
