          • Things have to be tight or you will get the electric woodpecker. As noted, a bad
battery can as well...BUT...where is the video of the engine coming out?!!
Gonna check the battery today, and shim the terminal with a bit of soda can. I have some pictures of the pull, I'll get them up in my build thread once I'm done.

Any thoughts?
                Thanks heaps
95% of the time that I have this issue, it's usually a loose connection on the battery terminals or the cables. Remember that the cables can corrode on the INSIDE where you never see it. Most times, if you remove the battery connector end and cut the cable a few inches back, you'll see the corrosion. Reinstall the cable end and most times it fixes it. If you're getting the rapid solenoid "clicking" you are usually getting some current.....but not enough to engage the starter. The radio resetting also hints to this. I'd bet anything it's a loose connection or bad cable.

                    • Thermostat gasket.
Maybe it won't leak this time...

I noticed some damage to the mating surface. Could be causing my issues...

Also, what is this yellow waxy stuff? It appeared during this leaking cycle? Never seen it before?

That looks to me like leftovers from a stop leak treatment. My old engine spewed the same stuff everywhere and my 323 had its thermostat gunked up by it.

                            • I've never put any stop leak stuff in. Never seen this before either.

I do oil changes on a 5,000 mile interval and I'll hit that mark in about 30 miles. I have it on my to-do list.

                              • If it's waxy, it's probably from the thermostat. When they give up the ghost, the seals release a waxy substance that actually opens the valve when it heats up.
