Now a question. The pic I posted. Is that the part referred to as FICB? This part is the only one I had to guess as as far as vacuum lines. I took a line from the bottom of the orange solenoid, to the side port of the part in the pic. And from the top port on that part, to a vacuum port on the back of the carb. Is this correct?

Yes, it is the FICB. and I will have to verify the second connection, but the connection to the orange solenoid is correct. I think you got it!

Thank you kartracer. I don't know what I am paying you for all this, but it obviously isn't enough. Good night.

Okay, so everything was good. Now, it appears I have lost spark. I will have to wait 'til dark I guess to run a wire and plug out from under the hood to verify it. I have shot starter fluid down the pipe, and it worked the first time, but nothing since.

        This is becoming quite educational.

So, after a rear brake job on my truck, I changed the oil and filter on the Festy. Pulled the water out of the radiator and block, and put in my anti-freeze/water before it turns back cold here. Adjusted the fast idle. The carb is supposed to be adjusted at the factory, but I found 4000 rpm at startup to be, excessive. Okay, I don't actually know it was 4000 rpm. I have not tach. But I knew it was WAY too high. I got it down to what sounds normal. I will pull it up beside my truck tomorrow (it has a tach) and compare.

The idle at stop lights scares me now. It is so low and quiet, I am scared it has quit. I will have to sit there for a second, and listen. I guess confidence in it will come with time. But I think everything is under control now.

I do have some noise that I can't decide on whether it is a bad bearing or just road noise. It doesn't change with engine speed. It doesn't change with left or right turn. It gets louder as speed increases, but then seems to level off around 55mph. I guess I will just drive it for a while and see what happens.

ok, i'll let you in on a little something i learned when i first got Scrappy on the road. i came fom driving a v6 fiero and was used to the sound it made at certain RPMs. Scrappy didn't come with a tach either so i would shift like i did in the fiero (about 4-4500 rpm) after puting a tach in, i learned i was only shifting at 3k and it sounded like it was screaming!

morel of the story: don't compair sounds from non like vehicals for diagnosis purposes. buy a cheap tack and use it. i'll bet your high idle is closer to 2k (normal at start up) and you're idling at 400ish (a good carb can idle at 200 rpm without issue).

if its the bearings you can usually tell by grabbing each wheel & moving it back & forth to check the play but im no expert on this so check with festyboy & he can tell you how to check this better than i.
