does it have power to pass another car?
Hard to start. Have to hold down gas peddle until warm. Idles bad.
Lose of power. Dies sometimes at lower speeds.

I hear something that sounds like someone sipping on a straw. The sound is located around the fuel filter. Is this sound normal or will it cause my problems? This noise is with engine off and after it as been sitting over an hour now.

that.
Intermittent problem..could have a fuel quality problem..
sinking float..dirt in needle and seat..fuel actually dribbling into carb throat when it shouldn'tLast edited by Movin; 03-10-2012, 07:04 PM.Reflex paint by Langeman...Lifted...Tow Rig

whoa!! get the engine to idle then look down the carb under the choke,
there should be no fuel visible dripping or puddled on the throttle plate.
If there is fuel there then there is a guy that does these carb overhauls
all the time named Kartracer who might arrange to rebuild it.
There are a few things to try before you pull the carb..first things first!

Hold the choke open and run the throttle linkage from idle to wide open
with the engine off, while looking down the carb, you should see fuel
come out of a little tube under the choke plate. You will probably need
a flash light even in the day time.
If no fuel comes out get a little lawn mower fuel and put 3 or 4 table spoons of fuel down under the choke plate, and try to start it , see if its better or worse.Reflex paint by Langeman...Lifted...Tow Rig
