I see you have those vacuum lines tee'd together. I wonder if they might be interfering with each other? Maybe have them come from separate vacuum sources on the intake manifold.

      • alot of guys have them teed and they run fine. where did u find just the vaccum pod to replace on dizzy.

I myself use just the bottom port on dizzy it advances the farthest. and I don't run advance of the intake port. I run it off the port on the carb or ported vaccum.

        hope this helps

          ^ This.

Intake manifold ports sometimes fail to deliver good vacuum.
But There is a thread on here where some have said BOTH ports on the disty provide advance. Chris is one and so did Zoom tee his vacuum lines and said it runs better.

I, myself, am going to try the tee.
I have one line to carb and one to manifold now. Going to tee both to carb and see what happens!

BTW, I have the weber 32/36 carb.

          • Had to buy a rebuilt dist to get the vacuum pod.... 236.00 crazy price for what it is. I just installed a wide band sensor... found out I have been running rich in the 10's now i have it set to 14.8 or so it bounces between 12.6 and 16. I hope to gain a better understanding of my driving habits with this tool. Right now I am having trouble setting the Idle and fast idle, while keeping the F?A at 14.8. any thoughts? do I need stronger spark?

            thanks

            • ive not even dealt with a/f ratio yet.but seems to me it will probably bounce around some at idle don't quote me tho. it shouldn't fluctauate alot tho I wouldn't think

              • +1 i would think that you should get a rich reading at fast idle (choke on) because its trying to get the motor warmed up with the rich mix

                • Right now the fast idle is not kicking on... ie car starts and dies... unless i flutter the gas pedal.

Are there any jets for 83' escort carb?

                        • Escort carbs are WEBER carbs and use the same jets as a Weber 32/36, which can be gotten on Ebay, or any VW buggy shop, as most buggy's use Weber's on the engine.
On Ebay, look for a seller that goes by the name "Rapid Carb".
Great guy and will answer any Q's you might throw at him, too! Jets are about $5.00 each
