i would get a new one just to be safe like 20 bux if that from the zone of auto...lol....unless you know that the original one worked fine

for the shift linkage i had someone offer me this... is this all i need? or do i even need this lol.
i know this would be easier if i had a transmission taken apart already so i know what things look like. he said $25 shipped. good price?

You do have to cut and weld. To make it easier cut a slot lengthwise (from the end your welding about 2 inches) and spread it open just a bit. Then when you cut the festy linkage this will go over the outside of the festy tubing. In doing this you are allowed to be off by some on the measurements and can adjust. The overall linkage ends up being shorter than the stock festiva piece. Then you can clamp vise grips on it and get in the car to see if it goes thru all the gears. You may also need to grind a small bit off of it. I've got some pics of how I did it. hope this helps.-Greg
