Exactly, that way your not pumping hot water from the engine into the intercooler

      • Timmay yes separate system. You can even install a icebox in the back to super cool the water to take more heat out of the charge pipes in coming air. The systems are really nice, and can be pretty compact in design. Just have to make sure your water pump for it never fails, but that's what gauges are for.

        • Oh! Ok... So is an ice box (literally ice?) the best way of cooling the water system, or what do people usually do?

          • i would have just went manifold mounted supercharger and cut a little out of the hood to let it poke through, just to see peoples reactions to the "oh wtf, is that a blower sticking out of the hood of that festiva?"

but then again, im a little cocky and enjoy watching people's reactions.

Just in case nobody else has said it, thanks for doing all this stuff and keeping the community informed of your work. You may remember it wasnt all that long ago that it was said even the BP wouldnt fit without using the stock trans, and over the years its guys like you, me and others that questioned it and dreamed bigger! Nowadays thanks to great write-ups and build threads like this more people can really enjoy having non-stock festivas that are no longer just going to be "quick" or limited to just a B6T but are real competitors when track day comes around.

I may not post often, but i do keep a very keen eye on your threads. You do great work and a HUGE service to the festiva community both as an enthusiast and as a moderator on here. Keep it up

I completely echo this sentiment. There are a half-dozen cars I model my build on, and the legacy of this car is assuredly one of them.

                • Agreed! Even as I strip down cars farther than I ever have before, it still amazes me what other guys can do. Helps keep me pressing on as well with the more mundane stuff! I love reading the pioneering mechanical exploits of ya'll. Keep on wrenching, welding, fabbing, and all that jazz!

                  • Well thank you agian guys

The other night i bolted my tranny back onto the engine and bolted the engine/trans back in the car, i then put the front end back on it so when i start making piping i can make sure the pipes will clear everything

Today i took the fuel rail i got from Maxtiva into work so i can get started on making my custom fuel rail

                    cut into sections

then after a bit of grinding i am left with just the injector ports

I am getting another fuel rail soon to harvest 2 more injector ports, but for now the 4 i have is enough to get started on

                        • I noticed you plan to go coil on plug with MS. I've been coil on plug in my KL on MS3 with the MS3X expansion board on full sequential fuel and spark for a few months now and seem to have it all sorted out at this point.

                          I'm running:
                          MS3/MS3X
                          2006 CBR 1000 coils
Acura Legend 6 channel ignitor from the coil on plug version (I think it was a mid nineties model)
HKS DLI ignition amplifier. The CBR coils didn't like past 350whp or so.
Some sort of marine tip plug so you can unscrew the top off. The same ones the Honda guys use in the B18s will work in the KL.

For your injectors, I'm still sidefeed running 3rd Gen RX7 850cc secondary injectors. Drop right into stock KL rails and MS3 has no problem controlling an injector that large.

Hoping to have new track and dyno numbers by the end of the year. Currently in the 400tq/450whp range hoping to get a little past 500 to get my new track goals.

Edit: Here was the video of the first COP startup.

Hmm, i didn't know of any injectors that would bolt right up to the stock fuel rail.... you got me re-thinking about making my custom rail, if i happen to find a set of RX7 injectors, i might just scrap the idea of the rail

                              • If you get the RX7 injectors make sure you get the hold downs to keep them in the rails and the connectors. They drop right in, but can't use that black plastic thing that holds down the stock KL injectors.

You can also use the hold downs (caps) from a 929 and connectors from just about any Mazda injector. I found that RX7, 929, 4cyl mx3 and miata connectors all worked.
