at the current time there is not room for the regular probe headlights, and currently there are no rear brakes on it, I have the entire setup off of a 94 crown vic, just need the lines. that's why I had such crappy launches at the track, had to roll out from idle, ha ha

Well the 3.70 gears came in yesterday, and I pulled the center section out of the rear, If my buddy gets to installing it today, I'll have her back on the road tonight!

Put a new tune on her as well, the ecu was limiting me to 6100rpm, which I didn't realize because I currently don't have a tach signal from the ecu. So I changed that and now I have 6500rpm at my disposal! Once the rear brakes are on, 12's should be in the bag!

Is the engine stock (intake, cam, heads, exhaust)? Does it make any power over 6000? I'm not completely familiar with the 4800 Vortec, but I was thinking it was a the small LS designed for truck applications?

Good luck with the gears! When you goin' back to the track?

It is the smallest truck LS based motor chevy makes. The motor has stock pistons and rods, ARP rod bolts for boost time, ls1 intake and cam, and ls6 valvesprings. With even the small ls1 cam it should make power until at least 6500. When I get my LS6 cam I might try to go a little higher even, but doubt I will need to.

Well I won't make it back to the track for at least two more weeks, my buddy is out of town until saturday, and next weekend I am in my brothers wedding, so at the earliest we are looking at the beginning of June.

6000+ makes sense with an LS1 cam & intake. So, I assume the 3.70's are in anticipation of boost (vs. 3.89 or 4.10)?
The nice part about a 9" is you can have several pumpkins, each w/different gears ratio, and change them out in less than 1/2 hour!

The gear in the car is a 3.23, which lags bad with the lower power that the car has now. The 3.70 is for N/A , and low boost turbo, I might have to go back to the 3.23's for 600+whp, as the gearing will then be much more suited....

Well I spent last night with a friend who showed me how to swap out gears and set the backlash and shim the pinion and what not, pretty cool, she is now all back together ready to hit the road with a little more acceleration! I will drive it this week sometime when I get the chance with it not raining to make sure the tune is better, should be a good time!!!
