Sounds like a plan!!!! What do you think about cleaning up a BP head a little for a boosted build? I've heard heavy porting is NOT recOmmended, something about slowing velocity, so I think I know that's a no no!! Thinking a slight clean or maybe even just polish could help slip that air through there a little better. As we all know, every little bit counts. I was also curious how experienced you were with the SAFCll? I know a buddy of mine has one and it has itsdownsides but it gets the job done. No experience with them thou!

Porting is an art and a science. As far as turbo cars are concerned, open up the intake as much as possible without destroying the short side radius, clean up the CCs and unshroud valves, keep the exhaust port smaller than the manifold (improves exhaust velocity). I don't have a flow bench, but man it would be awesome if I did! I'd think the 1.8L head could stand some port work and improve, I bet something simple like bigger intake valves with an awesome 5-angle valve job would do WONDERS.Originally posted by 91mcnasty View PostSounds like a plan!!!! SAFCs have their purpose. I got mine cheap enough that I'll live with it for now. Tune it with a wide band and it'll get the job done.Last edited by DON SVO; 03-20-2012, 12:11 AM.1989 Carby L: Stock. Slow.

Bought brand new halfshafts today for the G25MR, I got both of them brand new, no core, $137. I found a set in a yard locally that wanted $100 + tax, I figured lifetime warranty, clean and new was work the other $28

I'd want the jack shaft or whatever it is, I bet they use it for a reason!1992 white L, Bp, American racing 13's, stock trans.

Yes, but the intermediate shaft also acts as a torque damper to alleviate torque steer. I'll take the intermediate shaftOriginally posted by kellen302 View Post01-02 Kia Rio manual axles fit the Gseries/festy combo, and do not use a halfshaft.

They do help cut down on torque steer, but Rio axles are a good, breakable, backup option if you are afraid of destroying your rare XR2 intermediate.1990 White L-Plus 5-speed rust-machine

So can anyone be kind enough to explain to me where torque steer comes from? I have both Rio axels and 1 full passenger side xr2 axel sitting in my living room, and I'm having trouble deciding which I want to use. The dilemna is I am putting an mfactory LSD in the transmission and I don't know if that will correct the torque steer or not.2008 Kia Rio- new beater

Torque steer comes from un-equal length axles, intermediate shafts are designed to create equal length CV axles

Alright, thanks..its just hard for me to imagine why one side would pull harder than the other if they're both spinning at the same speed.
The Rio axel is thicker than the xr2 axel..Last edited by zoom zoom; 03-23-2012, 10:12 AM.2008 Kia Rio- new beater

It needs to be swince the longer axle will be much more prone to the effects of torque (twisting)Originally posted by zoom zoom View PostAlright, thanks..its just hard for me to imagine why one side would pull harder than the other if they're both spinning at the same speed.

Both axles get effected by the torque and want to "twist" but a longer axle will tend to wanna twist more from the added length and cause torque steer by doing thatOriginally posted by zoom zoom View PostEven the driver side? :p
