    Rust never sleeps

Oh, this doesnt look good. Rusted through subframe. :eeeeeek:

I was prolly lucky this held up to the B3, and now its getting a B6!

Not to worry though, I made these:

.090 thick wall channels, 18" long.
I will remove the cancer, and weld them over the subframe, creating a "bridge" and it will all be good!

This car has very little rust, except the subframe, and the typical rust in front of the rear wheel wells.
Looks like a little floor will need replaced too.

This is my next project, as soon as I get the B6 in, and running.

    Thanks Zoom!
I think I have run out of stuff to paint.
I might have to actually try to put the beast in the Festy this weekend. :p

I started working nights, I am on 4 - 10 hr days. Man its hard to try to get anything done during the week. If I try to do something, it seems as soon as I start, I have to stop, and go to work.

But the 3 day weekends are cool, and I can get stuff done then.

Your build is looking good Dr. D

I've been off the forum for a week. i haven't done anything to my KiMaFo dream lately.

I have a new/used computer which looks like it's going to be really cool...a Dell dual core XPS 400. I'll be touchin' base with ya'all! Later.

Zoom, I used 4 cans :eeeeeek: of of brake parts cleaner and a scrub brush on the tranny before I wire wheeled it.

    It was a dirty beast!

The 2nd motor I had (this 3rd) was so pretty, the valves and rockers were almost silver!
Too bad they had let water get in the intake and it was rust locked up on cylinder walls and crank. Couldnt turn it with a breaker bar and removed spark plugs.

Now I am working on the supposed "good" 5 spd tranny I picked up a couple months before I started the swap.
Cleaned it up, and took the wire wheel to it.

:eeeeeek: It cleaned up really well!

It was just a rough cleaning. It will get more. Hmmm....a clear coat might look good on that!
