  • Gomez. You really want a 1987 Mazda 121 Eurogrille.

Because it looks cool with the lights off.

And also because it looks even better with the lights on.

Ask AutoVillage to look for you.

    Good luck.

    No lights.

I could only imagine how much that would cost to ship here let alone find a seller willing to do all of that. I heard tell of people here buying whole cars just to get the wing, ship it here, then telling the seller to keep the car. Again I couldn't imagine starting the whole process. Maybe you know of people that know people and could pull favors and I know someone that repay the favor someday somehow.

      • Here is something that might look nice for that "festiva Autorama" look.. If that's whats you're after..

And for something extra spesh (if the budget isn't too stretched or budget isn't exceeded with this one..)

Adjustable coil over kit.. With 40 degree dampening adjustment.

Mazda DW DE or DY should do the trick if they're available.

        • I had a chance to buy one of the foglight 121 grilles but realized the foglights wouldn't clear my rad so it would have just collected dust if I bought it

No offense dude but I'm not looking for ideas as I have a solid Idea on how this build is going. More like help if I have a question. Most of my questions are PM based though and what is shown here is the work and/or purchases after the research has been done. Thanks for tryin' though,

That's OK. I wasn't trying to get under feet/step on toes and it's good to know where you need to belong if you're not 100%..

I'll endeavour to only provide feed back and pm and ideas and so forth over to you.

                • I know it's late in the thread, but what are the front shocks, (strut assembly) and where can I get them? I did an engine swap on my festiva last week and the last step is replacing the bad front shocks before I can drive it.

                  • Here are some pics midway through the front and rear tranny mounts. I am using XR2 mounts for now. After I am done cutting welding etc. I will get some new ones that are not all cracked up and broke like these are.

This is a g series tranny that was all seized up from lack of oil I think. I gutted it and am using it for mount mock up since it is a whole lot lighter. in this pic you can see where the p/o ground one of the mounting tabs clear off. The new tranny is not like this. My finger is between that little tab, that is on all of the trannies, and the steering rack. I moved the engine forward nearly 2" like Charlie said.

In this pic you can see the mounting holes aren't lined up. I will cut and weld a new piece in later this weekend or early next week. This pic reminds me of a mount I saw M3ental post a while back.

This is an old stock XR2 front mount. I modified the stock bracket and welded a plate to the cross member. At this point the engine is sitting about 1" lower and nearly 2" forward from the stock position. The crossmember was lowered 5/16" in the front.

                      • You want that front mount at an angle not flat on the xmember.look at the angle of the stock mounts. They look flat but when you look closer you will see they are angled and actually form a "cradle" for lack of a better word. Otherwise they look fine.

                        • I used the stock location, but opted for a 1996-2002 Mazda 121 Mount. It sits much lower and then fabricated a bracket

This allows the engine to sit further forward, but prob not as far forward as yours.
Mine is sitting in a way where the diff centre is approx 3/4" in front of the hub centres. I do think I'll have to lower the engine side mount approx 3/8" just to make it all sit nice and level.

I can't go all out with fabrication because the Australian rules make non factory fabrication difficult to certify

                          I'm loving your work Gomez!!!
