So I hate talking about building my car on my build thread and not actually posting progress, but i bought elbows and tees to put together a turbo manifold. I'm tired of waiting on my machinist friend to free up time so we could finish my intake manifold. I really wanted a passenger side throttle body. So my big question is, fmu, or no fmu. Sine builds have had no fuel mods. Would that be ok for a while?

Yes you need an fmu. That will be a fine setup for low/moderate boost

Pretty sure someone mentioned that 5psi is OK with the stock EFI and no FMU, but don't quote me on that. Might have been rocketman if you search his posts, might find it.

Ive been creeping the eBay turbos. I found this gem which looked applicable. Does anyone prefer used oem over cheap Chinese? http://m.ebay.com/itm/261169412368?nav=SEARCH

There was a guy who did a Youtube vid on those turbos. For his app (high boost drag racing) he said the wastegate hole needs opened up more to work right. For our apps, it probably wouldn't even matter.

However you can get cheap lo mileage Subie turbos from people who upgrade on eBay, so that's something to consider. That's what I did. Now when it ever gets put on is another story.

This, and with oem turbos you can easily rebuild them and swap parts on them to make hybrids.

Assuming you can get the stupid turbine housing bolts loose.

Does any one know data about whether or not fmu has issues with alcohol, specifically methanol? I'm going to use a 12 ratio fmu for progressive water methanol injection, but I don't want it quitting on me, any inputs.

uploadfromtaptalk1402547239059.jpguploadfromtaptalk1402547255075.jpg the old and the aspire new. Before the car looked like it was squatty in the front left. And it still does. I cut the spring perch and lowered it about an inch and a half on both sides. Found out my lca going into my spindle on the squatty side was badbad. Got one of those on order. Could that cause my gangster lean? Thanks to scrapbob for the aspire parts. I got them on in relatively good time.

It's good to know they are being put to good use, and that you're getting to know your car better.

I bought some serious parts last night fire my turbo build. Water meth pump, fpr, 3:1 fmu. A couple gauges. Next up and completing my log style turbo manifold.

They were both aem parts. I got the fpr without the built in gauge, because I bought a remote mount pressure gauge to monitor fuel from inside the car. I'd like to see up to date fuel pressures. So I know my fmu is functional. I ordered the 3:1 ratio fmu because ipuchased b6d injectors from azgtx. My calculations show that 18lb hour injectors will have to be turned down to around 24lbs of fuel pressure to equal the stock injectors flow rates. That will give me tons of head room for when the boost comes on. My goal was to progressive water meth inject to allow for the rest of the fuel correction missing from that fmu. So at 15lbs of boost, it'd take roughly 4 times the fuel pressure to compensate flow from fuel injectors, so my injectors should be seeing around 24+3x15. Or roughly 70lbs of fuel pressure so I'll be a bit short on fuel that will get to be made up for with methanol. Corky bell said not to rely on axillary fuel injection like water methanol injection to correct for inadequate fuel from the injectors. But technically we should not rely on hack job tuning like an fmu, so I figure it's a fair trade off. The methanol should keep things happy from 10.5afr to 14afr. Just because the factory ecu with an fmu could possibly vary that much. I want to see how much boost I can make without an electronic aftermarket tuner.

does anyone have a favorite gauge mounting spot in the festiva. i was looking for something a little incognito. something that wouldnt draw the eye. glove box really has my attention. as does the cubby hole under the cd player. both would allow room for cable or hoses and could be covered. but the under the cd player is a bit hard to view.

I was thinking about putting gauges against windshield below visor.

Get really thin gauges and put them in the visor!
