  • They pissed off GM too much by being too brand specific after GM handed them their chassis.

    • The weird quirky parts are dead but most of their electronics live on. Most of GMs communication protocals and networks are based off of saab tech. They used a bunch of their connector designs too. A lot of the connectors in first gen cts have saab stamped on them lol.

          • Charlies recommendation he posted it in one of his threads somewhere. I tried to find the exact post for you but I'm lazy and gave up after a few minutes lol.

Adjustable fpr is in with a set of festiva injectors. No pic because I did a real hack install just to try it out. Set it around 45 psi with the vaf set 2 clicks richer. Runs way better but afr aren't as consistent at part throttle. 11:1 at part throttle 3.5k rpm but if I open throttle more it'll lean out. At wot it stays in the 14 range but ends up about 15 near redline. Ill play with it for a little longer but I'm close to just giving up and throwing a megasquirt at it. I just sent out my spare injectors to be cleaned today so we'll see what happens when they get back in week or 2.

            • Maybe a few lbs more pressure and lean the VAF. The VAF doesn't affect fueling in the higher part of the rev range because it's usually pegged wide open by then. I haven't messed with the b3 VAF, but other systems I've tuned had it maxed out before 5k rpm.

              • That's what I was thinking. I'm pretty sure that around 4500 it just ignores the vaf reading. With the larger injectors I could do a steady part throttle acceleration and every time it hit 4500 it would go from 14 to 9.

                • Bumped it to 52ish and backed off a click. Better but still leaning out up top. I'm sure my neighbors are loving the full throttle testing at 630 am lol.

You should be able to run 60psi to those injectors without reliability issues. Dragonhealer has run even more on stock Miata injectors without failures and they are nearly identical to Festiva injectors, besides flow rate.
Ryal also reminded me that spray pattern efficiency is reduced with more pressure on the EV1 injectors, so you may want to get some EV4 injectors down the road for better fuel mileage. I think you can get this system dialed in to work reliably with this engine.

                    • Do any of you guys have a spare b6D exhaust manifold?

                      • Also sorry but why haven't you tried the B61k and green top injectors/vaf yet?

                        • Any idea on what my pressure limit should be? I'll try digging around to see if I can find a set of ev4 or ev14 injectors that are close to the right size.

I think I sold my only sohc 1.6 ecu. Might still have it stashed somewhere though. All the stock stuff I have laying around is for a b3, b6d, b6t, or z series. I do have a 16v 1.6 sohc long block here but it didn't come with all manifolds or electronics.

                          • 57 psi stock vaf adjustment. mid range is good. leans out to 15-15.1 at redline (6500 ish). pulls really hard feels great.

                            • I might be able to get a b6 ecu. I'll check.

                              • I stopped and checked thus morning. Pretty sure I sold it. Would a bp ecu be better? The fuel curve might match this engine better since they both have vics?
