A lot of guys who claim to be "experts" on the Internet are quite the opposite in real life. Even the highest paid welder on the planet started off putting globs of metal on a plate somewhere. Showing your welds to an experienced welder is a good way to get helpful hints and time saving tricks.
Getting a pretty weld from a low amperage Flux cored setup is very difficult though, even for a pro. Great job in diagnosing the problem with your welder. Setup, and machine operation are a big part of making quality welds.Last edited by Advancedynamix; 06-24-2016, 12:57 PM.

Don't want all of the "Expert Welders" criticizing your work???
So I don't think I have ever seen it on here but so claimed "Expert Welders" seem to be some of the meanest people on the internet... Always putting someone down for trying something new. I watched a YouTube video the other day of an amateur explaining some of the things that he has learned about welding to help other beginners and 90% of the comments were people putting the guy down because his welds weren't perfect... Telling him he should just give up because they can weld better than that with their eyes closed.
Just my observations.

So the local shops would not touch the exhaust because its not legal! So i had to fix my welder and do it myself. Turns out im not all that bad once i fixed the welder. I was getting a jumping wire. I fixed the block that holds the cable in place and boom i can weld again. Was using flux core for exhaust pipe so its ugly but its on and looks like it will hold.
PS will not be sharing a picture of that

It butted up nicely. Heck with the hater pipe i would notice a small to large leak anyway!!!

I've even seen no gasket from the factory on cast iron to aluminum. If it's true it should be fine.

Last night i finally got my cast exhaust housing in. Turns out it didn't come with gasket. Im going to run it without for this weekend only. Might look for some DIY gasket at the autocrap store. I cut down the old hater pipe. Got the old flange off it and ready to weld to the new 3" v band. I will have to get the torch out have the BFH but ill get it on tonight. I also got the injector wiring off.
What is the part on the back of the block just under the injectors?
The turbo is now fully hooked up. All coolant lines ran. The oil feed is ran and the return line is just waiting on me to get 2 elbows. I cut down the oil return line on the block to make the angle better. I still didnt like the angle so now i will run my line straight down, elbow, elbow then onto the oil return line. It should fit with a little grinding to the elbows. I did use heater core hose tho huhuhh. Will replace it when i can. But will keep a close eye on it.
I have most of the stock wire harness back on the car. Just need to push through the fire wall and reattach to ecu.
I also got the coolant feed port plugged. I bought a m12x 1.25 wheel stud and cut it to length. I then cut a slot in the top to allow a flat head to get in there. A tone of thread locker and got it in there. To fit the turbo i had to grind down the pad the old line was attached to. SO getting the screw to start was tricky but i got it.
Carlos said he might be able to tune me Saturday if i need. The wife works Saturday so it all works out for me. Unless something crazy happens (my luck is bad tho) I should have Lucifer up and going this weekend. Then back apart she comes.

I might tack it and take it to a shop friday morning. The hater pipe is going to take a BFH and a beer to get right but it must be done.

Can you just tack it up with your welder and bring it to a buddy to weld up? It would suck to have crappy welds on such a nice car.

So i now have a cast exhaust housing waiting for me at the house. Tonight i need to hook up the wiring i took apart last night. Then i have to finish the turbo coolant feed line. Tomorrow i will install the new ecu (i hope), and do my best to modify the exhaust to fit the new housing. I have the v band clamps and the flanges. I just have to weld the flange to the pipe. My welds suck (i think because my welder is so bad) I did take 1 year of stick welding in college.

It sucks sitting here watching the clock knowing the car might be running this friday!
