  • The motor is fully disconnected. Tomorrow it will be on the ground. The intake tubing has been modified. If the intake was left as it was it would have hit the brake MC. I trimmed 1/2" off each side. That way when i move the motor ove the pipe will remain in its same position as now. I will have to move the radiator over as well to make room for the turbo as it moves over. All the wiring and other stuff will move without issue. It should be rather easy to gt the motor moved.

The top mount is just angle iron. I will replace with a larger section of angle iron with holes 1/2" further away. The front lower mount is actually kind nice. It will be easy to chop off the uprights add a plate trim the uprights down a hair and weld to the plate 1/2" to the side. The rear mount is gonna suck. I will have to fully remake it. No clue what the plane is yet tho. Currently its only mounting to one of the 2 mounting bolts.

Also i will pack the mounts with window install urethane to stiffen them up but still remain flexible.

If i get all that done (i wont) ill move on to the mfactory diff install. While the motor is out i will add some fresh white paint to give it a new look.

    gonna be a long weekend.

    • ^if you can get it over there, Sikaflex is really good for packing the mounts.

      • Mike, make sure you fill the mounts a little bit at a time. Let the poly dry in between each layer. If you try to fill it all at once, it won't dry all the way through.

        • I havent read through threads about this much before but why not just get 2 component catalyzed urethane to fill mounts?
We get our stuff in 5 or 45 gallon kits from california but when we run out suddenly or just need a little bit we just go to local hobby shops. They sell like quart containers of the stuff. Wouldnt that work way better, quicker and easier?

          • For quick and easy, black polyurethane in a tube! Very similar density to engine mounts when it sets and its probably stronger than Chewbacca

Yes. I never thought about getting it at a hobby shop! Good tip! I get mine from Forsch Polymer in Colorado.

Bjb enterprises in california is where we get our stuff, high quality, safer to handle than most urethanes and silicon, and they sell small kits. Their website is terrible though. https://bjbenterprises.com/
Local hobby shop is called viking plastics and they sell smooth-on products. I hate working with that stuff but it does work, its geared to hobby use, not production. https://www.smooth-on.com/
And lots of other companies too.
I just poured this last night, boring part, the back side is whats interesting, but this was 7.3kg of soft 40shore A urethane in one pour and about 9kg of hard 75shore D urethane done at one time but 3mixes.
I cant imagine taking like a week to do a tiny part when you can just get catalyzed stuff, lol.
Please dont share the photo off this site.

                  • So the window PE is crazy. i love that the festiva world lead me to it. My mouns will require 4-6 layers to finsih and i think i might get 3. idk its hard to lay that crap down. The rear mount is gonna get covered in that stuff and stiffened a ton. the lower front will get a very small amount. the upper is not even gonna matter.

I did switch the upper mounts that i have out. Overkill came with a 2 hole mount. i hapen to have a wider 3 hole mount. I grinded the mount to fit the festiva. I am also adding some of the PE to it. The stock mount was shot. The metal bushing fell right outt. it had a 1/4" play in it. NO WONDER I HAVE TORQUE STEER. I can easily mod the upper mount to give me 1/2". The front lower will be easy as well. The rear lower will be all new. It will be all my own. New mounting plus stiffer mounts and the car will fell brand new.

Tires on the way. The m diff is at the post office. ill have it tomorrow. The m diff will be installed tomorrow as well. The engine bay is all cleaned, clear and ready to go. I will paint it tomorrow. I will do my best to be reinstalling everything Sunday. I want to drive the car to work by Tuesday. The car is near done. Sure i have to do interior still but build wise its close. It makes me want to stay in the garage all night long.

You have a 23 page thread that started only a few months ago, I think that is a pretty good answer to how much interest you are generating! The name of the new car says it all, really, and that gets attention.
Like said above by the "dragon" the speed you are making big changes at, especially while working for weeks out of town, is really impressive.

When i got it yes! It was all over the place. Now she pulls mostly straight. Its tractiin issues now. The car is solid tho. No rust. Just crappy paint. But she holds up very good.
