  • Is my Festiva dishwasher safe?!

Today I flushed the cooling system:

    Removed thermostat and reinstalled housing
Disconnected upper radiator hose from radiator
Inserted water hose into upper radiator hose
Ran water hose until clear water came out of radiator
    Reconnected radiator hose
Poured about one cup of Cascade dishwasher powder into radiator and filled with water
Started engine, bricked gas pedal, and let it run for a few minutes
    Shut off engine
    Flushed as above
    Repeat wash cycle
    Flush
Install new thermostat (proper Motorcraft style, which my car had, but it was original)
    Fill with coolant/water

    Did this to Izzystiva too.

My car now stays in the normal temperature range when cruising on the highway and the heater blows burning hot- too hot to hold my hand in front of the vents. Izzystiva improved much, but still not as hot as mine. The coolant passage for the thermostat and the inside of the radiator of that car is covered in crud still though.

    • Started and finished my turbo setup all in one day!!!

Started it up and the oil feed line that I hade professionally made at a connector/hose specialist shop fell apart. The guy didn't crimp the end correctly causing it to pop off. So now I have to wait till monday to get it fixed

But it did start up and idle, as well as rev great! The turbo sounds so nasty!!! :evil5:

The radiator has nothing to do with a car having the ability to warm up. If it isn't warming up, the thermostat is faulty, or there is some other issue.

          • Installed Kia Rio struts on the festiva. So far the ride is great! Now for some aspire rear shocks.

I know this, but that is his logic. Would you argue and pass up this deal?
Im not driving a Festiva because I'm poor. I drive a Festiva because i want to!

I haven't seen a flake of snow yet, they've been calling for it for weeks, it's surely cold enough now but it quit raining a few days ago.

                        As Walth said above.
The powder is abrasive enough to clean the coolant passages in the engine and heater core. And its much cheaper than commercial coolant flush chemicals.

                            • Friday I got insurance on Festevil. Yesterday I used my "cheat sheet" (aka Babystiva) to hook up all the carb lines that I could. A lot of them were cut and capped since they went to the air injection pumpish thingy that was removed before I got it. Still gotta get the dizzy cap and spark plugs back on, and finish bolting the exhaust to the header (broken stud gotta replace) and hopefully it will be up and running. Also changed the driver side hub on Babystiva with a spare one that I had rebuilt with new bearings, since it had started roaring a little.
                              No festiva for me ATM...

                              • On my 92 festy, yesterday I built a new battery tray and hold down system. The old one was in really bad shape and held in with a bungy cord.
Installed a short shifter and all new shifter bushings.
Ordered new lower control arms/balljoints and shifter knob.

Got to get it up and road worthy, if all goes as planned will be selling my white 88 in about a week, should be getting a 94 stang on the 16th as long as nothing screws up the deal.
