  • Swapped radiators, installed a GIANT trans cooler made from a Katana 600 Oil cooler. It holds about 1/2 qt of fluid. Had to custom bend some banjo lines to fit it in, and it's zip tied to the radiator. Pics coming soonish.

And it cried silently wondering why you don't pay more attention to it.

          • Didn't finish in time to edit last post :/

            Pics:

Bad pic of the Katana's oil cooler removed and hoses cut. There was grease on my phone's camera lens.

That's where it ends up, with the "nubs" on the bottom of the cooler resting in the "rim" of the bottom of the radiator. The bolt locations on the cooler, I stuck a ziptie through them, through the fins of the radiator, back through about an inch higher, and zipped it together so each zip tie is holding on about 15 fins.

I ended up taking the banjo fittings from both the motor and the cooler, bending two of them, and running new fluid rubber lines down to the trans lines under the pan. If I were going to leave it like that (not swap to manual) I'd switch to large brake line and get the proper fittings instead of using the banjos.

With the radiator installed, there's just enough clearance on the driver's side for the hose to fit through the gap without rubbing anywhere, and with the grille reinstalled, you can't even tell there's a cooler there.

I'm not putting the fan back in, either.

            Extra capacity was 1 pint.

Took the back half of Icetiva to the crushers today, and got a whole $20 for the 300 lbs of steel in the floor, back half, 1 door, roof and hood. A sad day.

You can gain another 1/4" by removing the lower shock bushing and replacing it with either delrin or aluminum bushing milled with an offset hole. That might keep you from cutting the springs if you only need an inch or so. The first mod will pre-load the spring slightly, though, which makes it slightly harder. If you do the lowers, drill a hole in the bushing sleeve and pin the new bushing in place so it can't rotate.
That is TWO good ideas in a row I have seen from you.

                      I approve

I have always been scared to cut a spring. I wonder if one inch would be enough to get rid of that nose down look?

Me? I have been thinking of the same mod to achieve that nose down look!

Wouldn't it improve the aerodynamics anyway?

                      • Wow 324 pages on this post! I changed the boots on my steering rack and lubricated the speedometer cable on the yellow car today. Also got a local guy with a small exhaust business to bend up a 2" stainless mid-pipe for it too. I threw a thrush tube glass-pack behind it and now I am done changing the aftermarket mid pipes that rust out every two years.

Such a slight improvement it would be imperceptible.
