  • Got a full console out of a 5speed Escort GT at the junkyard, along with the 5speed shift knob.

Currently letting the gummed up cup holders soak in some water with dish soap before I paint the console black.

So soon I will have a full console with a shelf from a Auto festy painted black for sale.

    • Just filled my tank, and the float is catching on the damn in-tank filter again. So it is only reading a quarter of a tank.... Ughh.....

Though this time when I fix it, it won't be with a brimmed tank, that was a mistake last time.

      • I want $2700 out of it so I don't loose my ass on the swap.

Both of your Festivas are so tempting...

So like car + cash or something, or if someone wants to buy it outright too, that's cool. Not 100% sure what I want to do yet
        Buck.

          • This was a couple days ago, but for the second time in a month I had to KO wasp nests. I hate summer at the new apartments, I've never had this problem elsewhere. It's been a year since my '88 has been my dd, and I still haven't done anything to it.

Need to figure out how to do the Aspire brake swap without any experienced festiva guys around me, or access to a garage even.

Now with 100% more autocorrect fail!

                  • Well didn't do anything today, but this weekend I finally made some forward progress with my car.

Got the crank bolt off after a little ingenuity.

So I was finally able to replace my front crank seal and then I replaced my oil pan gasket. Which was a pain the the rear! I also got my front passenger strut and springs out so that I can replace them with the KYB struts/FMS springs. I still have to put the timing belt and all the pulleys back on. Once I do I'm going to be crossing my fingers that my seal and gasket keep all the oil in! I had a frustrating day Friday so I get my headliner out of the garage and finally cut the hole in it for the sunroof and get it installed. Looks much cleaner inside now!

Working on the car wearing my dad's old classic safety glasses.

It was a rough dirty day!

Also I had both wheels off the front and it looked like my car was floating!

                    • We use those glasses every day where I work. They're comfortable. That last pic reminds me of the "lightning bug" on the first Cars movie.

                      • Bought that on Ebay. It is supposed to look like the eyes from one of the Cars vehicles!

Those glasses really are nice. Even if you do look like a goober wearing them!

                        • Found out that with the Prelude seat swap you cannot fit the rear part of the Escort console.

Can't say I am too impressed with this swap. All I can say is it adds two cupholders, the big gap between the console and the dash looks like trash.

I might put my Auto console back in.

                          • I want my Festiva to look as stock as possible. My limit on center console modification is putting in a German Pride console solely for the purpose of having two extra switches. I will go ahead with the armrest in between the seats, only because I have offset the seats about an inch away from the center line. Therefore, I would certainly not recommend anyone else to do that mod.
If you are unhappy with your console, change it back. As long as you are happy with it. There is no point driving around and constantly notice a gap between the consoles. Driving is supposed to be fun.
