DUDE! It sounds like you dodged a bullet on that one. That could have been really bad. Did April find out?

Got my GLX buttoned up enough that i could drive it today. Put about 15 miles on it. Runs good, drives good and i'm happy! Its been a long and frustrating process. So today, i was in a tizzy to try and get the thing going and it bit me in the.....face. I was switching out my aspire shocks from "Towmater" to the GLX. I was not thinking at all and jacked up the rear axle of the GLX, removed the right rear wheel, started to remove the lower shock bolt not thinking that i should have put jack stands under the body. When the bolt came out the axle came up, my head was in the wheel well, WAM the drum smokes my nose and smashed my head into the wheel well. Instant blood, i thought i had broke my nose. I have a couple big tinting mirrors in my garage so i went over to them and looked in the mirror and was like "This is bad". I wiped off the blood to inspect the damage and it looked only visual. After a 5 min bloody nose and a couple cuss words at how smart i am i got back to work and finished the swap. It looks ok now. Word from the not so wise, slow down.

Yeah I've been meaning to try to rig something up, but meh. Now that it's actually cold and I'd like to leave my car running places, I might get off my rump and do it LOL

Read above. It definitely needed it regardless of a compression test result.
I think the jist of what they're implying is that if it needs a valve job/valves/re-ring etc the head comes right back off again.

e-brake is long gone.... both cable ends snapped months ago. Driving I know has a part in it, it has been very cold, tons of idling, and lots of wheelspin.

Oh... wait, maybe that wasn't such a good idea to automatically assume it was the HG's fault... maybe that $30 on a comp tester would have been well spent after all?

Negative! Lightning has the interior out except for the seats and dash, Headlights out, Eyebrows off, I got the dent in the right quarter panel mostly out. I'm planning to have it back together for Spring Festiva L.

    coil and ICM

I put in a new Ignition Control Module recently after it died at a stoplight.....real convenient. Put a coil in first and after that didn't do it I picked up an ICM and bam! Fired right up and Stiv is back in action.

Next will be all four struts and coils....LCA's, rotors, front brakes, wheels and tires.
    Peace.

Oh, and what have you done to blue lightning, eh? Surely not as much as I, sir!
