Take the clips off and slide the axles in. If they go in there is no problem with the tranny but a problem with the clip and/or installation. If the axle doesn't go in still, there is a problem with the tranny.

You are looking for SPLINES! Gears & splines. Stick your face in there. Look in the holes. And you should be able to see clean through the tranny.
(And should see two sets of splined side gears for both axles. It doesnt matter if its a E,F or G series. They are all going to have similar side gears with thrust washers.

d that with all the confusing posts of people who don't have a clue what's going on. I have never had the gears move on me even with trannies that have had the axles removed and been stored for awhile and moved around alot. I have seen damaged splines on axles though, people getting too aggressive with a hammer and trying to force things.

If the clips buggered up the splines they are easy to file. If you have
the F transmission the gears should not slip like they can on the festy
transmission. If you have messed up splines the clips are too. May
need new ones. The gears are harder spline material and will not
be messed up as easy as the shaft can get messed up. Even a dremel
tool can fix bad spline spots.

??? I have thrown them from car to car dropped them with no problems .But
I have had the gears drop before . Sucks breaking the case to correct the problem and do it again Haha .. but I don't have a clue !
New build on the way .

So, is that it? If it is, what do I do next? If it is not, what is it then?... As I said, panic mode here
So what happend to "stock manual trans", now its an f-series? If your trying to use stock e-series axles in the f-series that's the problem.
Im not driving a Festiva because I'm poor. I drive a Festiva because i want to!

Where is this pic from? Do you have more?

So, where does the axle supposed to be? Inside #5 & #6? Judging by the shape I would say I was touching the back of the teeth on the outer side

Any chance to fix this without taking tranny apart?
