  • Great article. I like the idea of velcro to hold it in place + 3M Thinsulate Acoustic for the headliner. Unfortunately, there is only 1" thick on the bay. If I installed that in my Festiva, I would be able to hear myself think!

    Thanks.

    • There are two different types of glovebox latches. Are the strikers identical? I have a wire loop striker on my dash. Is it incompatible with an older hook latch? Are the glovebox skins interchangeable?

      • Glovebox skins are not interchangeable.

Today's question. I am having trouble routing a factory cabin A/C wiring harness. The condenser housing I have does not have wire loom support tabs. As a matter of fact, it does not have any holes for support tabs. Was this only on older Festivas? If so, how were the wires attached? Tape?

        • Help! I think I did a no-no. I may have accidentally removed the WOT (wide open throttle) switch from my accelerator pedal. I previously had a dealer A/C wiring harness installed that did not have an A/C amplifier, like the factory harness. Since it didn't have a WOT connector, I removed the switch. Now that I installed a factory harness, I forgot what the switch looked like and where it was placed. Can some nice member please post a picture of the WOT switch at the accelerator pedal?
It is not a life or death situation. The switch is normally open. So, the A/C should continue to function. If it's not there, the A/C just won't ground and release the compressor clutch.

There is no switch triggered by the accelerator pedal under the dash on my 1990 LPlus cars. I think the Throttle position sensor must be responsible for detecting the WOT.

            • Correct. I need a picture of the switch from a carbed 88 or 89.

              • Does anyone know what the dimensions of the Nissan Maxima dash clock are?

My dash clock randomly gains or loses time about 10 minutes per day. Does anyone know if dash clocks are repairable?

I feel like switching it to an ambient air temperature gauge.

                • I wonder if I could stuff the F150 overhead into that plastic box?
                  Toyota Tacoma?
Does that look like orange LEDs to you?

I also saved the woohoo smiley.
                    Banana35 is also funny.

                    • Today's question is about power steering. Should the Festiva power steering pump allow for turning the wheels with one hand while standing still on pavement? What pressure should the pump be putting out and can I install a T + gauge to test? Most videos fail to mention the importance of adding a neodymium magnet to the outside of the reservoir.

                      • I can't afford any of the power steering testers on the bay. I sent an email to Ford asking for the pressure specs. The high pressure line fitting is an M16 X 1.5 flare.
There is no point purchasing an AN flare P/S tester manifold. The Toyo Tech PS-150 kit is probably too expensive. I will phone around and see if anyone can test it for me cheap.
Does anyone want to guess? Above or below 1500 psi?

                        • Can't answer pressure question but I can answer the other. I have had 3 P/S units in the past. I could turn tires lock to lock with my index finger inside the steering wheel while in neutral on pavement. Was super nice to my bad shoulders.

                          • Does anyone know if the Mitubishi Lancer's radio or GPS is a single DIN, just like the Festiva?

Don't know for sure but it looks like it.

Also that car has the heated washer fluid did you ever get the one made you were trying to make?

                              • No. I forgot all about it. But, after reading about the price of gold laminated quick defrost windows costing $1000, that sounds like a sane alternative. I am going to pick up my Y letter drill bit on Friday to install a Smart windshield squirter nozzle. I will post a video of the triple cannon discharge. I have already test fired it. It is absolutely hilarious.
