I do agree the heat at the M/C will definitely be something to watch very very closely, but as you guys can see, I don't have the room to move it any further away..... My back up plan is If it becomes enough of an issue, I will look into relocating the M/C inside the passenger compartment with some aftermarket M/C

i think FB71 is right... thats way too close to compromising safety equipment. i mean brand new dot 3 brake fluid boils at around 400*F and that turbo is gonna be pretty close to that temp at idle... the last thing you want after a hard pull is a spongy non responsive brake pedal.

Chris, WAY too close to MC. I don't think you'll be able to put enough shielding between the pipe and MC to keep it's temp below 120F.

Thats what i'm hoping for, i'll most likely wrap the pipes double thick, i'll probably heat wrap the M/C and build a heat shield in between the turbo and M/C, i'll also probably heat wrap the steering rack as well, although the steering rack isn't as big of a concern as the M/C

Ok so today i got my downpipe welded up and it's pretty much ready to go, i'm just going to pick up a couple flanges tomorrow so i can have the downpipe bolt to the rest of the exhaust so i can still remove it whenever i gotta pull the engine lol

The other thing i did tonight is re-ran my wiring, the way i had my wiring run before, well if i left it that way, it would have been resting against the exhaust, so tonight i un-wrapped all the wiring under the hood so i could re-run them away from the pipes

i forgot to take any before/during pics so here's how it ended up

And with the intake on, the wiring stays fairly hidden

    here's more progress

Very close to the speedo cable and steering rack, definately not much room to work with

And a couple underneath shots, and yes my old Y-pipe is still in place, i've been waiting until i have to cut it, to actually cut it out lol

I got the downpipe in the P5 to take to work monday to weld it all up and once i get that done i'll get the downpipe attached to the rest of the exhaust and the hot side will be finished

I got the filter for free, and for how long i'll stick with this setup, i'm not worried about changing it

Got the little turbo extension welded on and i'm happier with the turbo placement now, it's still pretty close to the M/C but at least i have some more clearance to put in a heatshield, maybe header wrap the M/C as well to help keep the heat off of it..... Anyway here's pics

    Turbo sitting nice and level

And i almost thought the air filter wasn't going to clear the hood, dam it sure is close though lol

Now that i'm happy with where the turbo is sitting i'll be getting started on the downpipe over the weekend
