1991 White L, BP/F5MR, protege header, full aspire swap with gr2's, seats, and sway bar, 15" konig's, short throw, escort console.
1991 blue L, 5 speed.

Nope, the only way to get an intercooler in the grille, is to remove the grille completely, which I will not do

that's what i'm getting at, you currently have an 8v engine (there is no DE head, just D and that's a 16v DOHC). and since you have the 8v head, you'll have to swap pistons when you go to 16v (either ME or D).
but on the chance that you have an ME head, there's no reason to want to go to a 16v head, because you already have one.Trees aren't kind to me...
