Tossed the LS6 cam in last night, got up to a point where I had fresh oil and full water/coolant, and started her up. Purrs like a kitten! Can't wait to drive it! I think I will work on getting a heat shield made for the intake pipe first, before I throw it completely back together.

Have you ever, or going to, dyno that thing?

If I get around to it. I don't care about dyno numbers. I log my stuff so I know if I see knock, and I just use my MPH in the quarter to show improvements....

But just for laughs I might dyno it with this cam and open exhaust to see what she does....

Well, took the car for a spin last night, felt a tad bit sluggish off the line compared to before, which I expected, but overall it feels pretty good! Hard to tell how much it helped, but I'll find out next sunday when I go to the track.

With less low end torque, it does get me up a little farther on the converter, about 1850-1900rpm, compared to 1600-1700 it was at.

I am predicting around a 12.70-12.80 with this cam, and the exhaust dump I will use at the track, as long as the temp stays cool....

You need a looser converter in it if you plan to race it, I run a 3500 behind my 5.3 in my maverick

It's on the list, but not a priority. I will probably keep it at 3000 stall, This car is driven everywhere and don't want to go too big....

I race it all the time, the stall will just drop me 6 tenths, ha ha

Update: still on the mild converter, but with the LS6 cam and the open exhaust she went

                    12.81@108mph, with a still crappy 1.96 60'

                    Thanks for looking,

COngrats! Nice job. You can tell the converter is still a little tight off the line, but if you drive it a lot on the street, it's probably about right. You might try picking up a spare 3rd member for the 9" with a set of 3.89's or 4.10s. If you were local, I'd even give you one to try! It may help with the new cam and swapping the 3rd member is pretty quick & easy. Keep the updates coming!

Well if I do that I will put the original 3.23's in the spare one, cause once the turbo goes on this winter, it will want that gear.

I am planning on about 145 mph, ha ha

Update: Got the turbo, got the Bosch 044, and now also have a WTA intercooler. Also I chopped up some exhaust sections and my buddy welded them to form the up pipe, which I will be working on more tonight. Once the flange is on I will make a brace plate to help hold the turbo up.

                              Pics:

As soon as I get the flange tack welded to the piping and get the tube to match the rec port of the flange, I will post a pic or two of the turbo sitting in the engine bay. A real benefit to having the water to air intercooler is I will have less than 40" of intake piping! That should reduce spool time by a few hundred rpm....

                              Thanks again for looking
