All these things matter , they all tangle around that area .
What would be a good rad to use to keep thing cool yet gain room under there?

Is that 323 flange the same size (hose bung) as the other 2? If so, that's a great choice. I used the Aspire one on Pedro, with a modified lower festiva hose and it fits great, but I had to drill and tap it for the fan switch.

Looking at options for the thermostat housing. First photo is stock Festiva...

Second is off an Aspire and would need hole and thred added for the temperature sender...

Last one is off a later Mazda 323...

Which would work best as far as rad hose hook up?

    Thanks

Didn't get much taken off the red car today as it was snowing all day. Did get some work done on the blue one though.

    - rear brake lines all hooked up
    - e-brake cable installed
    - seat belts back in
    - rear panels put back in
    - rear speakers switched over to the nicer panels
    - LED high mount brake light mounted (used to be on the red car)

It's starting to look like a car again!!!

Won't have much time tomorrow to do much on either car but Saturday afternoon looks not too bad.

Got quite a bit done this afternoon in spite of the -10°C (+14°F) temperature. Dash is out, head and intake off, main wiring harness out. Just working in the garage now. Made a 1" spacer for the A/C idler puller bracket out of a spare A/C idler pulley bracket... works like a charm. Just have to paint it and find some longer bolts.

I got the gas tank, rear axle and e-brake cable installed yesterday.

Tomorrow's plan is to finish dismantling the red car. Not much left... heater and A/C box, shift linkage and exhaust. That means the B6 header will be up for sale shortly😊.

    Thanks for you continued interest.

Interior of the red car partly stripped so I can get the rear axle and gas tank out...

    Rear axle removed...

Next to go is the gas tank. Current temperature is +2°C and it's nice and sunny. Supposed to be nice again tomorrow as well. After I get the gas tank out I'll get going on the dash etc.

That looks great. I always hated the mess of stuff in that area.

That red car is a good looking car, rusted out?

Some wiring progress! There isn't much of the Festiva harness needed at the firewall so I cleaned things up a bit. The only plugs needed are the daytime running lights, windshield wiper motor and brake warning light.

    BEFORE

    AFTER

The bit of harness you can see in the second photo is from the 323GT. The remaining plugs & wires in the Festiva harness are taped back between the splash guard and fender so they are out of the way but still available if the need arises. The wiring for the coil that ties in with the 323GT harness is spliced in close to the front.

Very observant sir! Both the 121 front end and the entire Aspire suspension with the Tein coilovers will be going into the project car.

Watch for some major updates in the next couple of days. The '92 is up on stands ready to be dismantled. It's going to be +1°C and sunny tomorrow so I plan to get as much off it as possible...

Working on the last few bits of wiring this evening. A huge thank you to Rob, aka 'shadetree', for his help with this. He's always been quick with an answer, both here on the forum and via text, to what must seem like an awful lot of questions. Jed, aka 'icedawg', has also provided some valuable information on the wiring.

Most of the readily available information has been about the Capri harness swap. Seeing as I'm using the 323GT harness and there are some potentially confusing differences I hope to put together a post on those differences.

    Thanks for your continued interest.

Engine block was out of a 1986 Mazda 323. Installed the EFI intake off an 88 before installing it.
