Met up w/ Karl aka SafetyGuy & picked up a set of 13" Geo rims this morning. What an awesome dude! Sat & chewed the fat over a sammie & icee at a McDonald's then got my first ride in a B6 / Aspire swapped Festy Ty for the rims again & was cool to meet a FF.com member IRL. Truly believe its one of the facts that so many members do parts pick ups / make meets & host local mini meets that make this site such a good forum/community Festiva's are great cars & so are the people here who love them. Festiva FTW!!!!
Picked about the parts car. Drove the bullet out to meet the wife on her way home from work for dinner. Pulled the vacuum lines from the aspire. Need to buy another roll of the small stuff tomorrow. New ones going then. Nice day :thumbright:
But for those of you who read my brake thread a few months ago, it's all fixed!
Had a very cool guy over to help me out (teach me) and brought all of the necessary tools!
Had to put in about 4+ feet of line, but it all worked out!
Whilst finally getting a good look at the undercarriage, we discovered that I had a small pinhole leak in my gas line too (curse you oxidation). Though i'm not too sure we did it the PROPER way, we did patch it up nicely with some putty, which is holding up nicely.
As a matter of fact I will post in the repair section for everyone's opinion.
Additionally, I'm buying some parts off two members here which will conclude my most dire repairs!
Made new gaskets for my taillights. Finally no more leaks! I used Dennis's (Gauge_Half_Inch) method. I went to my local hobby store and bought a sheet of craft foam. It's a thin foam like material, typically used for children to cut out shapes and numbers and what not. Cost me .99 and it works great! Dennis has had them for quite a while now and his are still doing well also.
I used 2ga, because I had some laying around from the stereo that was in my element. If I had to buy wire it would have been 4ga. I don't even have a radio though so I probably could get away with 6ga.
What i did to the festiva today ... put in a spankin new aspire long block _ and searched this site many times for all those necessary answers which the search button always came up with ! Thanks to all those who came before and asked ...
Pretty sure Napa sells it behind the counter, haven't bought it yet, I have some kicker 0 gauge wire that has 4708 strands, but I'd say that's way too much.
I was just talkin about 2 gauge, I was thinking about running 4ga to the battery in the back. Maybe a 2ga ground also. My Capri(b6t) alt said 14V and 85Amps so I def plan on upgrading the Festiva harness' wire from the alt.
I got my New clutch on the b6t build, & resurfaced flywheel.
