Pulled the head today to replace valve seals. OMG was it dirty. Probably a 16th inch of carbon on pistons and valve area. Got it all cleaned up and am putting seals on tomorrow and head back on Fri morning (borrowing tool from a guy that won't let it leave his house so I have to make trips).

Did a detailed cleanup to Ole Yeller today.
The rack that Kartracer46 rebuilt for Junkyard Save came in the mail today.

:king:He did an amazing job...couldn't tell it from a new one.

Tomorrow morning comes the fun part of putting it back in.
(If anyone is going to be in Charleston tomorrow and would like to come over and help me, that would be great.)

.... My last fill up was 38.8 mpG. And that's with more than 480,000 miles on the original engine.

Car did great; no problems at all.
39.3MPG on the way up there. I drove about 60-75MPH with at least 60% being at 70MPH.
The tank before was 39.9MPG (My car is refusing to hit 40) and it was maybe 50-60% highway and the rest city.
Does the mileage sound right for the speed driven? Weight in the car was two people at maybe 150lbs apiece and maybe another 100lb of cargo. The subwoofer stays in the car and I wanted my tool boxes with me just in case.

My only complaint about long drives in Festiva is the arm rest is hard. Has anyone found a way to make it softer that is aesthetically pleasing?

I know the bolt holes line up with the escort ones, but you would need power windows because they are so long they block window crank handles lol. Never tried 323s, but the door latch handles fit (had me a nice set of black and chrome 323 handles in my silver car) so there is a good possibility they may. This morning before work I started putting my clutch pedal set in. Maybe tomorrow I'll finish that and start on the steering column.

It would look better in pics if you took some in a nice big park field with trees way in the background. Post 'em up that way and I'd really like to see them as would everybody else i'm sure.

That is some glossy paint dude. looks good!
