What are everyones thoughts on buying a rebuilt moter with a warranty. I have spent over 3000 and 18 months of my life learning the ins and outs of how a car works... far more valuable then my college education... but bottom line is I live, work and play out of my car and I need a reliable engine... I would be happy to support someone on here by purchasing an engine from them, but I need it to work for 100,000 miles. the first b3 went 287000 miles with no trouble. the gen 1 b6 did great for 2000 miles then the #3 cylinder went. the next engine from ACE moters in LA http://www.cncmotors.com/ was excrement, they gave me a late model engine, long story but they would not take it back. now I am at witts end!
I really appreciate everyone's help and feedback concerning my troubles, I have learned so much. but i travel every 3 days i am in a different city, I don't have a garage or any down time and it is hard tinker with your house/car when you NEED it, so I can work! there is no down time in my life.
its late im frustrated sorry for the rant...
I'll check over the stuff TominMO sugested tomorrow.
By the way FestivaGTX has been a huge help, he has been involved with every swap(not the bad one) I was out of the country for that one. I got back to a 2000 motor with a carb and a plumbing project!
good night
