Well it's been over a month in the waiting, but my car is finally running again. New front crank seal, new oil pan gasket, slightly used KYB strut/shocks, very used but newly powdercoated FMS springs installed. Felt good to be behind the wheel again! Was tired of laying on my back underneath the dang thing!
i gotta get our front end aligned here after i put the brake lights and headlights together.
List of things left to do before rally:
=Get engine going aka finish bp swap DONE
finish aspire swap DONE
Switch Suspension DONE
wire the lights up IN PROGRESS
Inspection TO BE DONE THIS WEEKEND
Lisenced TO BE DONE THIS WEEKEND
Man, I'd really love to see you race that car.
Would be nice to have at least an interior camera setup, even if it is just a cheap digital cam mounted somewhere inside the car.

Got front end aligned. I eyeballed it to within exact tolerance. Alignment guy only charged 1/2 price to check it. lol If only I could do that every time.
Got all the lines hooked up to the compressor, and found out that the high pressure line on the condenser would still thread, the end of the hose was just being stubborn, and didn't want to go back in.
But I finally made it go back in, and the fitting tightened down just fine. Though when I get the retrofit kit, I am going to replace the seal, since a piece of it fell out when I was fighting with it.
I removed the rear harness of the car today, started replacing it with my own so i know whats going on, i had the engine re-wired at a shop called ecotech since i could not get our car to keep fire no matter how many times i went back through the harness, so now we have 2 half harnesses, 1/2 festiva and 1/2 escort gt. i need to get rid of the unnecessary wires soon but not until i get a break in the rally season. back to what i was doing though i took the harness out and wired up my park lamps so far, i picked up a little switchboard from AutoZone with 4 fused switches built in, going to put some of the switches for things like the park lamps, reverse lights, and guage/map lights on the steering wheel or within reach of the co-driver. pics to follow, on a bad connection currently
I installed ol'skool day driving lights, they have 21W bulb, and were very stylish here back in the days (late 80's and early 90's)
Now I don't have to remember lights (on or off), because I connected them so that when ignition is on yellow lights and parking lights are on, when I turn parking light on, yellow lights turn off and just parking light are on.
Very nice!
On a side note I installed my new $25 water pump (lifetime warranty) this morning! Reminds me of why I drive one of these gokarts.

Been there, done that. Maaaany times. Danged gas gauge hasn't worked right for years. Reads correctly for the first 50-75 miles or so, then drops down immediately to about 1/4 to 1/3 of a tank for a few days and then drops down to "E".
Need to get that sucker fixed.
Yesterday: got a Mazda RX-7 cruise control switch in the mail that I bought from eBay. Have the blinker/wiper/cruise control assembly already. Need the other parts.
Got the crank pulley bolted on for the a/c, and got the compressor bolted on as well.
Whew, this heat is killing me, let just say over 5 hours after I had finished, my shirt is still soaked in sweat.
Just need to hook the lines up to the compressor, and jbweld that high pressure line to the condenser, then it will be ready for a vacuum test.
Then once I have a belt on there, I will be ready to charge it, I just need to find someone with a manifold gauge set.
Anyone in the area have one I can use?
No, it just keeps crankin' 'till you turn off the A/C. It makes a high pitch whine that you can barely hear with the radio off & blower fan on low speed.
