After some deliberation and rudimentary measuring of the flange that comes on the Aspire Manifold stock (the 3 bolt), and looking at the exhaust inlet of the GT17, I've decided that we're not going to cut the flange off the manifold and try to match the pipe up to the square cutout in it, instead we're just going to weld the header flange right to the existing flange, then cleanup any "overhang" from the OE flange.
It's not exactly optimal for flow, but it'll get the job done easily enough. Once the flange plate comes in this week, I'll be able to set it against an engine and see how things are going to line up as far as exact turbo placement, then grab an oil pan and see if we can weld a threaded plate to the inside of it to accept the oil drain (or figure something else out).
Probably not going to run the FMIC for now, or possibly at all... I also have a DSM side mount that will fit in the opening to the passenger side of the radiator, and considering the small "need" for this turbo (@ ~5psi), I probably won't really need an intercooler anyway. I'm not planning on much more than 80BHP after this is installed on the stock electronics, and I don't plan on tuning it, either. If I really wanted to make a ton more power, I'd be boosting a BP or something. The extra grunt will certainly help out when pulling or going up hills, though, so it'll be a welcome change.
Pics when it's lined up and welded.

Drove it out to gauge_half_inch's place for a minimeet with 91mcnasty at pickapart. Helped them pull the trans from a Capri xr2. I scored the b6t throttle body. The engine is still there with a nice looking hole in the side of the oil pan. Head, manifolds, turbo are all probably all still useable.

I painted my wiper arms and put new window wipers on. Its generally the first thing I do cause Its so easy and you stare at them for hours on end driving the car, they're always rusted or faded.
Tomorrow, some real non silly maintenance.

Replaced the false-manual shift knob with one from an S10. Looks like a rally shifter now, about mid height on the steering wheel. Didn't grab a pic while I was in it, but I will tomorrow.
Oddly, the new shift lever screwed right onto the auto-lever that was already in there. It's comfortable enough that I might keep something that tall when I install the manual trans. I don't have to move in my seat to get to it comfortably, and I can rest my hand on it while I'm driving.
Also cleaned out the cowl area by removing the access panel and the wiper motor panel and jamming a shop vac hose everywhere I could get it. Could have done a little better if I'd taken more time, but it's good for now. It's annoying that you can't take the cowl off the car without drilling welds. :/Last edited by Christ; 05-11-2012, 09:55 PM.

Finished putting the rebuilt head back on Babystiva she seems to be running good but some evil squirrels ate the wires going to one of the marker lamps which in turn blew the tail lights/dash light fuse. So I gotta fix that. Also threw in a spare EFI cam and hla rockers that I had sitting around already cleaned up nice and shiny. Looks great with festevil
s old wheels and tires but then again kinda figured that already since they went from one 88 red car to anothernot much of a change there! Hopefully little sis will be happy when she gets her back tomorrow.

I also have a couple of large trucks, myself. I use them for trucks. Things that my Festiva can't or shouldn't have to handle, that's what the trucks are for.
1989 F250 Diesel, soon to be 4 speed manual with a 10FT ICC work body on it.
197x F150 4x4 360 3speed, may end up with a turbo 7.3 Int. in it as well, since I have a spare diesel and have never been much of a fan of gas engines.
I am actually eyeballing an older IDI diesel right now, it is a 250 but I really want a dually. I might get the 250 anyways then convert if I really want it later. And the 70s F-Series are my favorite body style. Dad had a 78 when I was about 8 it was a Reg Cab long bed dark brown with a 460 in it, talk about a fun truck. It would spin tires til you ran out of road or gas(which is the most likely). But a 78-79 is on my list of future projects, 460 is a must but I really want to put a 3-on-the-tree behind it (To be unique and for theft provention, and if I flip the shift collar I can have the old lady beside me with no problems)
