Started assembly of the shortblock on my B6 build. Had to call DNJ engine parts to find out what side of the rings to install "up". For the life of me, I couldn't see any bevels or markings on the rings...I even put on my bi-focals, LOL. Turns out there was some tiny words etched on them ("ROCK" and "1.5 STD"). - but I still couldn't see any beveled edges...it sucks getting old!

Did a lot of cleaning on the in side and painted trim.

And cleaned the engine bay as good as I could and it looks a lot better than before.

Swapped my VAF for a spare I had (thanks, Charlie1717 - another of your spare parts used ), and my check engine light completely went off!! It's been reading o2 Sensor for a year now.. replaced o2 Sensor a long time ago, and it stayed on. Messed with VAF, stayed on. Finally thought.. duh, why not try one of my spares. :banghead:

Had 4 gallons of gas in it, very very close to empty when filled (gas gauge doesn't work, but took forever to start with low gas), and it's already run 130 miles and still not empty! Beats my 27MPG consistent by loads. Easily feels like 10HP boost, engine sounds better, RPMs lower.

    ...I don't think I'm just imagining, but we'll see.

I'd be so happy to get extra MPGs outta my auto..

EDIT: Shall do test run tomorrow, run out, put in 4 gallons, drive to Indianapolis and back (130 miles round-trip, we'll see how far I get).

Got my parts from skimsucka, brake-light went on easy. Same can't be said for that damn battery tray, the main bolt that is still there from my old one just won't give, damn thing was swimming in WD40 still wouldn't budge, ended up just rounding off the head.

Going to take a drill to it tomorrow,

Swapped an LX instrument cluster into my 88 L.
    Re-routed the speedometer
Added a tach wire to the pigtail, ran wire to coil
Success! Except the tach needle was stuck at 1k rpms.
Took back apart cluster, broke it open, moved needle around, resistance stopped.
After taking it out about a dozen times, it's alive and well.
    Tach!:p

Installed the coolant sensor, car runs smooth as silk now. No random loss of power, no sputtering, no CEL, and no more idle issues.

Installed a Pioneer HD head unit and Memphis speakers. Just for the record not all Festivas have 4 inch speakers in the front and 5 inch in the back. Mine has 4 inch in the back also.

Don't take a pic, take it. If you don't want it someone will. If the u-pull price was reasonable.

I need to replace the coolant sensor today, and while I am at it, I might as well replace the PCV valve, it's only $2.
