Put insurance on it and drove it to wal-mart. It runs and drives, but coolant disappears at an astonishing rate, and it varies where it comes from. Anyone gots an engine nearby?
Might consider clutch assembly, pilot bearing (not VOR or ADF related), and rear main seal also. No gasket between engine and transaxle...just the backplate.
1990new - Ha! Ha! I actually got that joke! :highly_amused:
Thanks for the list of other parts to get and/or check!

Question: Besides cleaning it up, is the only thing you need to do to get ready to install it is buying a new transmission 'lip' gasket? (ie, where the transmission case mounts to the engine)
Is there a gasket for the transmission to engine? I don't remember seeing one when I removed it...I did buy new axle seals.
I remember when my Festy his 123,456.7 miles. I drove back and forth along a deserted road on base at lunchtime just so I could hit that magic number and take a pix of the odometer....didn't want it to roll through that sequential numbering and me not realize it. I took the pix  but it turned out too blurry to see any of the numbers.
[QUOTE=Prafeston;572744]Tried cleaning up my transmission a bit. Looking better. Still needs work.
Rafe -
Looks a ton better! Gotta do that exact same thing to a 5-spd I bought for my Festiva. I plan to paint mine when I get it all cleaned up in late Spring.

Why not just buy 4 of the wheels in the all-silver style? Can't get them anymore in the 15" size so I had to buy the wheels in the predominantly black style and will have to paint them. Oh well, they'll look killer when they're on there....
